left-design FOUNDERS' NOTE right-design

I am a software engineer by qualification and a social entrepreneur by passion. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I keenly observed a surge in donation scams, eroding people's trust and kindness. Motivated by a desire to bring transparency and accountability to charitable contributions, I along with my team conceptualized and developed an app. This app allowed donors to track every penny they donated and witness the tangible impact it had on the lives of the recipients.

The app quickly gained popularity. However, we soon realized a new challenge. The beneficiaries of the transparent donations were becoming overly dependent on the aid, hindering their potential for self-sustainability. Refusing to promote dependency, we pivoted the focus towards transparent donations for only livelihood-based projects. Eager to understand the struggles faced by various communities, we embarked on a journey to remote tribal and rural areas, where we discovered the rich heritage of artisanal communities.

Deeply moved by the challenges faced by these artisans—lack of recognition and fair compensation for their intricate work—we knew this is our calling. This gave birth to Gullakaari, an NGO dedicated to preserving and reviving traditional Indian handicraft art forms. Gullakaari didn't just stop at crowdfunding for artisans; it evolved into a powerful ecosystem. The initiative aims to skill train artisans, making their traditional art forms relevant to the contemporary world while preserving their authenticity.

India at its heart has rich ethnic traditions that originate from the villages which can offer diversity to the world. Today, Gullakaari Foundation stands not only to supports artisans financially but also provides them with the necessary skills and resources to thrive in today's world. Gullakaari foundation has successfully revived numerous dying art forms, making 100+ artisans self-sustainable.
